Gain Hands-On Experience with Our Veterinary Externships

We are pleased to offer traditional externships to fourth-year veterinary students. You will have the opportunity to work alongside 7 highly skilled mixed-animal veterinarians in 6 different clinical settings. Schedules are developed and altered to personal goals of each extern, and set to provide the greatest amount of exposure and hands-on learning for every student.

Official Rotations

SCVH is registered as an official rotation site with multiple schools of veterinary medicine with distributive clinical models. Please let us know if you need further details on how to choose Salt Creek as a rotation site during your fourth year.

High school CVA students

Salt Creek is proud to offer a safe, supportive environment for young people wanting to pursue veterinary medicine as a future career option! We are excited to be partnered with the Certified Veterinary Assistant programs in Graham, Hamlin, and Throckmorton.

Housing Available

We are also happy to be able to provide a house for veterinary students to stay at during their rotations and externships, just two miles up the road from our Olney location!

Helping Animals and Rural Towns (H.A.R.T.)

In 2024, Salt Creek started a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called Helping Animals and Rural Towns (H.A.R.T.). This donation-based program is designed to help educate fourth-year veterinary students, by allowing them to see appointments and perform surgical procedures under the supervision of our licensed veterinarians. Through H.A.R.T., some student-led services are free or at reduced cost for pet owners.
